Lake Bunyonyi is situated in southwestern Uganda close to the border with Rwanda and is the second deepest lake in Africa. With its 29 islands and terraced hillsides the scenery is breath-taking. The name “Bunyonyi” literally means ‘the place of many little birds” and with over 200 bird species, it is truly a birders paradise. Lake Bunyonyi is one of the few African lakes completely safe for swimming, without bilharzia risk.
